How we read the week.

Where each issue comes from, how items are chosen, and the standard every one of them clears.

Why this exists

A rule changes in one state. A study qualifies something you were taught. A payer quietly updates a policy. Any one of those can reach the person in your office — and none of them arrive with a notification.

So you get one email that says what changed, what it means, and where to check it — before it turns up in a denied claim or a parent's question.

We read the source before it reaches you, check the claim against it, and decide whether it earns five minutes of your week. Most of what we look at does not make the issue.

The standard every item clears

Four rules we hold to. They are the reason an issue is short.

Every claim has a source

Every story runs on a primary source we opened and read ourselves. Regulatory and funding numbers especially.

We cut more than we send

Four things that matter beat eight that fill space. Every item earns its place on the page.

Your state, first

One edition for everyone, with your state called out at the top of the legislation section.

We flag what is still uncertain

When a study is preliminary or a rule is unclear, we say so. Calibrated confidence is what makes the rest of it trustworthy.

Where we look

Four sources the field moves through, and what we look for in each.

Weekly Newsletter

One pass over the week: what changed, what it means, and what needs a decision from you.

Research Digests

A forty-page study becomes four sentences: the finding, the limits the authors put on it, and a link to the paper.

BACB Updates

Stay current on certification changes, exam updates, ethics guidance, and supervision requirements.

Legislation Tracker

Legislation and policy across all 50 states — yours highlighted, the rest because what passes in one tends to travel.
